Sad to see our snow persons and snow cat melt away! This is all that is left...till the next snowfall! Fall is back!
Jim went to vote at the local voting precinct at Green Mountain. This was an exciting event for the whole family who went to see the action. We have recently watched a documentary series on John Adams to learn more about how America was created and how political parties were created so were able to make some relevant connections!
We decided to make jiaozi since we were homesick for homemade Chinese food. We love Shanghai style dumplings and have learned under a master back in Shanghai (our housekeeper Xiao Chun made the best jiaozi!), so we attempted to recreate this wonderful Chinese food. Not too bad for a first attempt. We took a short cut by buying the wrappers at an Asian grocery store we found in Asheville.
After eating all those dumplings, we needed to do our exercises! Coach Aneka has us all on a PE program to do stretches, breathing exercises, walk or run on the treadmill and some other crazy stuff!
Aneka and Rigel kept busy with robotics too! They are both learning to program and are getting better all the time- and they seem to enjoy it! Their FLL (First Lego League) group is going to compete in the locals next week. A part of the competition is a project, chosen by the kids, as determined by a question. Their group chose constellations, or specifically: How do constellations change positions during the seasons? They will do a presentation on this. Meanwhile, they've also joined another robotics group at a higher level (FTC), which Jim is also helping to coach. More on that later!
We are making some progress on our Tree House project! Rigel and Jim have been working hard on plans, making calculations and adapting them to materials available. More on that later too- we'll add details to Rigel's page as it progresses!
