We had two cool events today! It is Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights for which we welcomed Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity to our new home in the mountains. As always, we had an Indian meal and Aneka and Rigel made diyas (lamps) to light after dark to do this! Before we had our Diwali celebration, we went to meet with the Blue Ridge Astronomy Group (B.R.A.G.), who were gathering to view the partial solar eclipse visible in all of North America. The kiddos are also preparing for the project part of their Robotics competition, which their team decided would be on constellations, so viewing the constellations was another goal! As well as asking questions of the local astronomers who were meeting at the EnergyXchange, where this event took place, the future Star Park! More on the place and the robotics later. | |
