Soon after breakfast this morning, we heard what sounded like a gun shot and almost simultaneously the lights went off. Actually, the lights went off first. In a few minutes we realized that it wasn't just our cabin that had no electricity, but the whole neighborhood was without, because we heard the generator start at the neighbor's cabin who lives a few houses down our mountain. About 10-15 minutes later, we heard a truck come by- it was the people from the electric company. They identified that the problem was in our backyard- our transformer had gone kaput! In another 5-10 minutes, a bigger electric truck pulled up and the men went to work. And what an incredible job they have! It's not just getting the electricity working again but to do it on a mountain, on a cabin. They didn't seem to think their job was anything out of the ordinary, but we were fascinated and watched the entire process. The lights came back on within two hours of them going off. Bravo, French Board!
